Dear Professor Minker,

I have just been offered -- and have accepted -- an assistant professorship
at Carnegie-Mellon Univesity.
For that reason, we should probably cancel my scheduled March 22 visit to
Maryland.
I regret any inconvenience this causes you.

I am still interested in meeting you and your colleagues, and
am certainly still willing to give a colloquium on my thesis research.
My wife and I will be on the East coast at the end of May,
if you are interested in arranging such a lecture.
